But faster then you can say "Thwip", Madame Web appears to set Peter on his path to set things right. The Tablet fragments have fallen into three other worlds, and Madame Web has tapped the Spider-Men of these dimensions to help out. And so, True Believer, it's up to the Amazing, Noir, Ultimate, and 2099 wallcrawlers (and you, of course) to save the universe in Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions.
Combat in Shattered Dimensions is pretty typical third-person brawler fare, and anyone who's played a God of War-style game will feel right at home. Light and heavy attacks can be chained together with grabs, arial combos, and webslinging powers to dispatch your foes in creative ways. Defeating enemies, completing challenges (basically 180 micro-achievments) and collecting Spider-Tokens will reward you with "Spider-Essence", serving as the game's currency allowing you to buy more combos, attacks, costumes, and character upgrades. These points carry across all four dimensions, and most of the upgrades apply to all four characters, although some are reserved for a particular Parker. Luckily not all Spider-Men are created equal, and each dimension offers it's own unique gameplay twist and visual style.

With current spider-scribe Dan Slott lending a hand on writing duties, Shattered Dimensions manages to weave a story worthy of the webhead. None of the dialog feels out of place, each Spider-Man feels like a unique character and quips just the way you expect them to. Especially if you're a long time Spider-freak, you'll be constantly laughing and smiling throughout the game.
Spider-Man: Edge of Time is a 2011 video game based on the superhero Spider-Man, developed by Beenox and released for the Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii. The game was directed by Gerard Lehiany and Ramiro Belanger. The story, written by Peter David, Ramiro Belanger, and Gérard Lehiany, revolves around both Peter Parker, the original Spider-Man, and Miguel O'Hara, Spider-Man 2099, as they combat a new threat across space and time and attempt to save both of their realities, while also trying to prevent Parker's death from coming to fruition. The game is a sequel to 2010's Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, although Spider-Man Noir and Ultimate Spider-Man are not featured, only mentioned.
Spider-Man: Edge of Time is a linear third-person action-adventure video game where the player assumes the two versions of Spider-Man, spanning across the traditional Marvel Comics universe and the futuristic 2099 universe; the game automatically switches between the two Spider-Men. Gameplay is similar to that of its predecessor Shattered Dimensions: players can web swing, web zip, crawl walls, and use the 'spider-sense' to identify enemies or objects of interest. The Spider-Man 2099 free falling sections from Shattered Dimensions also return, as does the upgrade system; XP is earned from completing various challenges with each Spider-Man, and can be used to purchase new fighting moves, increase stats, or unlock alternate costumes. Both Spider-Men have a new exclusive ability: the original Spider-Man (Peter Parker) has a "hyper-sense" mode, allowing him to move quickly, pulverize enemies one at a time or run through elaborate laser defence systems without getting hurt; Spider-Man 2099 (Miguel O'Hara), meanwhile, can create a fake simulation of himself to divert an enemy, to either attack without them noticing or to move to another area unharmed while their attack destroys something in front of him, such as a highly secure lock.[8]
Customers who pre-ordered the game at GameStop got early access to bonus downloadable alternate costumes inspired from the Identity Crisis storyline,[10][11] while pre-orders from Amazon.com allowed the customer to unlock Spider-Man's Future Foundation costume for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions early in the game.[11][12] Customers who pre-ordered the game at Best Buy got early access to Spider-Man's Big Time costume.[11] The Spider-Man costume worn by Miles Morales, Peter Parker's successor in the Ultimate Marvel universe, was also available.[13][14] The Spider-Armor,[15] Cosmic Spider-Man,[16] Cosmic Spider-Man 2099,[17] Iron Spider,[18] Secret War,[19] 1602 Spider-Man,[20] Scarlet Spider[21] and Negative Zone costumes can be unlocked, only if a player has a save game of Shattered Dimensions on their PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, or Wii.
The plot of Shattered Dimensions isn't enthralling, but it sets up the framework for the game nicely. The Tablet of Order and Chaos has been stolen by Mysterio and broken into pieces. It's up to three different Spider-Men (the prototypical Amazing, the shadow-focused Noir, and the futuristic 2099) to team up, collect the tablets, and save the day. Throughout the game, you have to find portals to switch between each character, each with their own unique map to explore.
The game's greatest offense is the brief segments that you have to complete to go between dimensions. Using the stylus, you have to spin a tablet while tapping and/or holding on attacking enemies. The touch screen detection for these segments is inconsistent, and they just aren't fun. It's all right in the beginning when they're easy to defeat, but it's very frustrating once they get more difficult.
Sure it's mostly speculation at this point since we haven't actually gotten our hands on the game, but if it walks like a duck and looks like a duck, it's definitely a veteran superhero bitten by a radioactive spider who appeared in one of the best Spider-Man games ever made.
